Singtel New Youth Plan

I don't know about you guys but I was 14 years old when I had my first mobile phone. I still remember I pasted a photo of my 'dream' phone in my diary, wishing that I will have it for my birthday. It looks like this:

Sony Ericsson was my first handphone and I fell in love with it instantly. During that time, it was all over the magazines, newspapers and even, on the internet. I thought it was cool to have one for myself as well. You know how as a kid, you feel so left out amongst your friends just because you don't have a phone and everyone else is flipping theirs, busy texting and you are just there like "Hmm... what should i do now?"

After two years, it was time for me to re-contract but my mum wouldn't let me. She told me, "If you pass your N-level results with good grades, then I will present you an iPhone 4." Of course, with that promising statement that kept lingering at the back of my head, I never failed to feel motivated to study hard for my major examinations. True enough, I managed to pass with flying colours and that was when I had an iPhone 4 as my second phone.

Then comes the major problem.

Two years after that, as usual, it was time for me to re-contract. I was already eye-ing on the latest Samsung model which was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The screen was huge and wide, and I thought to myself maybe it's time for a change. I guess I liked what I was looking for. I enjoy watching movies when I am on my way to a certain location to kill time and with the big screen that they are offering, it was definitely a big tick for me. I didn't even look at the other qualities the phone has.

Unfortunately, it didn't last me more than two months of using that phone. Something unexpected happen. I was visiting the doctor one day and while waiting for my turn, I was scrolling through my Twitter timeline and all of a sudden, it blacked out on me. I was baffled and confused because I remembered charging my phone before I left home. I got so restless and impatient to rush home and charge my phone just to see if the battery was the problem. To no avail, it didn't work. My phone completely died on me. I feel so frustrated because I tried so hard to maintain the condition of my phone and it just had to be because of the system. Furthermore, it was still brand new.

Shops after shops, and none of them could find a way to switch my phone back on unless I have to send for a complete repair that could cost me as good as a brand new phone and just like that, I was phone-less. I had to wait for another two years in order for me to get a new phone due to the re-contract system. Luckily, I still had my iPhone 4 with me and so, I sticked to it (but I was still mad and angry at how my Samsung died on me just-like-that!)
It has been four years since I used an iPhone and it didn't last that long either but that, I could understand because it had went through a lot of ups and downs with me. From cracked screen, to chipped sides, to missing SIM card tray, to faulty home AND lock button,  to missing audio, to a major horrible state whereby the front glass crack and you can see through what's inside the phone, and after all that, it managed to survive till about four months ago, it died, peacefully (haha)

I am very, very, very happy that I finally have a new phone that is only a few days old and I just can't seem to leave it alone. More details about it in the upcoming posts!

There are definitely thousands and others of reasons why some consumers might not be satisfied with their phones and one of the popular problems would be the slow internet connection. I feel your pain.

I experienced the exact same thing as what others would. I know how annoying it gets especially when you are in the train tunnel and you are halfway watching YouTube and it suddenly hangs or when you are talking on the phone and the connection cuts you off. I do get impatient some times.

I have been using SingTel since I first had a phone and yes, I still do experience bad connection because the SingTel Youth Plan 6 years ago didn't offer me that much. It was still in 3G (not 4G) and the local data has adjusted to 2GB. That's the reason why my bills kept piling and piling due to excess data usage. Can't be blame because I didn't have sufficient local data and I didn't want to pay for extra GB because it could cost me quite a lot even if it's monthly (because it's wasn't included in the Youth Plan, that's the reason why the charges varies).

Since my contract is ending soon (Ahhh! Finally, the time has come) in a few months’ time, I can finally re-contract to the latest Youth Plan which offers SO MANY GREAT THINGS COMPARED TO WHAT I WAS OFFERED SIX YEARS AGO!

For some of you who are planning to buy a new phone or re-contract, this new Youth Plan would be something you might want to look at. Before deciding on which phone you want to purchase, you would want to look at which telcos offer you the best plan. Here is a chart that I sum up for you guys so that you can see a better picture for yourself.

SingTel has an exclusive benefit for the NEW sign ups (meaning it's your first time signing up for this plan) it is givng you a 10% off Lite and Value subscription + additional 1GB and free 2 months AMPed premium!

The more students should purchase it as it is the cheapest amongst the three telcos in Singapore. Not forgetting, the additional local data so that means more internet surfing! You don't have to worry about receiving an increase amount of bills due to the excess local data charges. I know how painful your heart will feel to see that additional charges on the piece of paper just like how I received mine a few days back. It tallies up to $100 for the month! Not even funny :'(

The good news doesn't end here.

If you are a new customer to  Singtel and sign up for the Youth Plan via this link (, you will receive an ADDITIONAL perks on top of whatever that was mentioned above and that includes $50 off ANY mobile phones (except for iPhone) and free 2GB additional data!!! Who is eligible for the Youth Plan?

b) Full time NS men with service status “NSF” in their 11B identity card and aged 25 years and below at the point of sign up, excluding regulars.

If you are below 18, you require a photo of your parent/guardian guarantor’s IC when you apply online. If you go down to the SingTel shops, your parent/guardian guarantor needs to be present. If you are above 18, you can do everything yourself!

You may also sign up for this Youth Plan at any SingTel shop, but do note that there are some special perks only available to those who sign up through my unique link (!

How will the phone be delivered?

It will be delivered right to your doorstep so do provide the right address! It should take between 2-4 working days.

So easy right?

How does the phone trade-in work?

If you have a phone you’d like to trade in, there is an optional segment before check-out to offset your one-time payment. Select which phone you would like to trade in, and present it to the delivery person at point of delivery.

Am so happy to finally be able to share this with you so.....
